this semester

so this is what i have been working on this semester, paintings based on the scar on my right forearm that i got when i put my arm through a window. unintentionally of course. i've just been thinking about skin and scars and then responding to the materials i have in the art building...

this is acrylic on canvas with blue thread coming out of it and the first work of the semester. unstretched just hanging from wire hook things. this one is the largest at about nine by eight feet.

this is the second piece i made, canvas stretched on a wood stretcher with wire kind of like how they stretch animal skins... kinda gruesome. this is maybe 7 or 8 feet by i don't know, 6 feet maybe.

this one is the last piece that i just finished this last week. it is wood panel on a wood stretcher. i still might change the size of the stretcher or add some wire stitches to better integrate the panel with the stretcher. this is the same size as the one above. big i guess is the best word.

steve thinks that they look like vaginas which was not my intention and i kind of don't care. so what if it looks like a vagina, everybody that is cool has one.... i don't think it matters if that is not what i am intentionally putting in to it.

now i am getting kind of interested in realism and collaborative art... i miss figurative stuff and charcoal.
